Designed in 1967 by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli, the Plia chair is one of the most iconic seating designs of the 20th century. Revolutionary for its time, the Plia introduced a unique “three-disk hinge” mechanism that allowed the chair to fold with exceptional smoothness and durability — a technical innovation that earned it multiple design awards and a place in major museum collections worldwide.
This vintage example features the highly sought-after smoked (fumé) transparent polycarbonate seat and back, paired with a polished steel frame. The combination of lightness, transparency, and mid-century Italian engineering makes the Plia both sculptural and functional.
These are authentic vintage pieces, not modern reissues, and display the beautiful subtle patina expected from original 1970s production.
